Do You Know the Way to AJ Foyt Parkway?


WALLER, Texas – One of A.J. Foyt’s several ranches is located on A.J. Foyt Road, but this past year the motorsports legend’s name graced yet another strip of Texas asphalt: A.J. Foyt Parkway. This particular road sign leads travelers on Route 290 to the exit for the A.J. Foyt Racing team headquarters, located in Waller.


The Parkway was named after Foyt due to the hard work of Becky Baranouski, wife of team manager Craig Baranouski, who also handles the team’s travel. But Becky’s talents don’t stop there. She has also worked the sponsorship side of motorsports for several teams and was the deal maker behind the Cabo Wabo sponsorship for the past two years.


Trying to come up with a unique Christmas gift for the man who has everything, Becky began to explore redefining the local community road maps. After a year of diligent persistence with the local and state authorities, she was able to present the proclamation to Foyt who was genuinely touched by the honor.


“I really appreciated the effort that Becky put into this and I think it’s quite an honor to have a parkway named after me,” said Foyt, who seems to enjoy pointing out the sign to anyone who is riding with him when they pass it—no matter how many times they’ve seen it!
